Why I May Never Marry? [Video Diary]
The African man who doesn’t feel entitled is a unicorn.
In a series of video diaries #KipKompani I’m using my personal experiences to guide and encourage African women(and men who want to know and do better) to question gender roles, social norms, and traditional beliefs.
The reason I may never marry is that 99.9% of African men are raised to feel entitled because of their gender. Marriage to any African man who feels entitled will mean pain and suffering for me. I don’t know how to endure sufferness.
Mothers, sisters, aunties, and grandmothers raise their male children to believe that they must be given allowances and privileges because being male is special. Fathers, uncles, and grandfathers are entitled too, so why should their sons not want to enjoy the same in their own marriages?
Everyone should choose a partner who shares their values. Since the African man who doesn’t feel entitled is a unicorn, marriage may never happen for me and thank God for that!

I talk about the conversation that triggered this post and my thoughts on partnerships, sacred connections, and living a fulfilled life.
