Ghana Man Time: Let's not assume everyone is on it

Ghana Man Time: Let's not assume everyone is on it

This morning I was on Metro TV for a morning talkshow. I was meant to talk about planning for your business. I got there at the call time of 10:40am for a show that broadcasts live at 11 am.

I woke up and got there on time despite having stayed up late, and having a toddler to care for I gave my word that I would.

Upon arrival the producer informed us that my segment would be broadcast at 11:30am but it wasn't so. The time came and went and I didnt actually get called until after 12. When I asked why they hadn't just been forthcoming about the time and the program line up, I was told it was because of Ghana Man Time.

I was so mad I wanted to head butt the woman as she explained. You treat everyone as an individual and not assume we are all the same otherwise what's the point? There is no excuse for wasting someone's time. The patience I have for  people who waste time has gone from 3/10 to -5 since having a child. You do not waste the time of a woman juggling business, motherhood, sleeplessness, and the fit life. You just don't do it.

We eventually got on set for my segment with the host and of course now they've run out of time. What was to have been a 15 minute conversation about planning for your business was a 5 mins rush on where we couldn't talk about the key issues.

The bottom line is we can just go around assuming that everyone is on GMT and use that as an excuse. Respecting time is about respecting people. If you want to be taken seriously you have to respect people and their time.

Had everything happened on time, I would actually be smiling in these pics instead of faking it. Oh Well. On to the next!
